Batting first against Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils were bowled out for 98 in their first match of Indian Premier League season nine. Kolkata Knight Riders earlier won the toss and chose to bowl first.
KOLKATA; A disciplined bowling
display from bowlers of Kolkata Knight Riders has sent Delhi Daredevils to the
backseat in their first match against the home-team who invited the opposition
to bat first after winning the toss. Both the teams look for a good beginning
with a win to start their Indian Premier League (IPL 2016) campaign in style.
For Kolkata Knight Riders, Hogg
and Russell picked three wickets each while Hastings and Chawla, who picked two
wickets each, shared the rest. Hastings picked two wickets for mere six runs in
his 2.4 over long spell in which he bowled 13 dot balls.
Invited to bat first, De Kock and
Agarwal gave a brisling start to Delhi Daredevils. The opening pair added 24
runs in 2.2 overs before De Kock (17 from ten, 1x4, 1x6) was dismissed by
Russell. Punishing Umesh Yadav for a six and a four in consecutive deliveries,
De Kock glimpsed good form but proved to be short lived.
De Kock top scored the innings in
which only four batsmen could reach double digit including him. The other three
include Samson (15), Morris (11) and Pawan Negi (11). Russell’s double strike
in his second over seemed too good for the visitors to bear. Once Daredevils
lost their first wicket for 24, they lost their wickets in regular intervals.
