Having four hits in a row, the year
2015 turned out to be a year of huge success for Prithviraj Sukumaran. Each of
his last four movies "Ennu Ninte Moideen," "Amar Akbar
Anthony," "Anarkali" and "Paavada" wrote success story
in the box office. Ennu Ninte Moideen was one of the biggest hits of the year
as well.
Now in 2016, Prithviraj Sukumaran
is all set to make it ‘five hits in a row’ with his new film Darvinte Parinamam
(also spelt as "Darwinte Parinamam") got released today (18th
of March) in over 300 theatres across Kerala. Here is the review of the movie.
Plot
The 2-hr-29-minute flick revolves
around the life of an unfortunate man by whom a local goon gets converted
(parinamam). Despite lacking depth, the story remains interesting. There are a
number of ‘for-the-sake-of-comedy’ situations in this movie, which slightly
bores everyone. Some of those comedies are outfit and we feel that the situation
is unnecessary.
The songs are good and enjoyable,
still feel that there are many just like they come one after another as if in a
cluster. Accepting these drawbacks, the movie can rightly be called a family
entertainer. The camera is perfect and so is the background score. The director
Jijo Antony has succeeded to a certain extent.
While watching “Darvinte
Parinamam" we may get confused on the name and the hero of the film.
Darvin in this film is not Prithviraj but Chemban Vinod Jose who appears as a local
goon Gorrilla Darvin in the movie while Prithviraj is seen as Anil Anto an
ordinary youth in the location. Chandini Shreedharan- the girl debuted through Muhsin
Parari's "KL10" last year is the heroine. Soubin Shahir, Balu
Varghese, Mamukkoya and others appear in various pivotal roles.
Manoj Nair’s script is cinematographed
by Abinandhan Ramanujam. The music and background score are by Shankar Sharma.
The lyrics of already-hit songs are penned by PS Rafeeq, Harinarayanan BK, Arun
Ittilath and Pious Guit. Under the banner of August Cinema, Prithviraj, Arya,
Santhosh Sivan and Shaji Nadesan jointly produces "Darvinte
Parinamam".
Verdict
Prithviraj Sukumaran has grown a
lot. With scribing hits after hits, he has become more popular. His fan base
too has grown a lot. His new movie Darvinte Parinamam has hit the theatres
today, and to be frank the film was waited for with mounting expectation
probably due to the fact that none of the recent films of the young actors have
disappointed the crowd. It will be locking horns with Asif Ali’s "IthuThaanda Police" which was also released today.
Discussions on social media sites prove that a good share of the crowd couldn’t
find the movie up to their expectation, probably because they expected something
different, something extra-ordinary which the film does not offer at all. But no
doubt, I can assure you that Darvinte Parinamam will satisfy you- provided you
go to the theatres expecting no wonders. Those who were unhappy with the film have
been busy penning down their feelings in the form of comments directly on
social media.
The film once again approves Prithviraj
Sukumaran deciding on reading the scripts before agreeing to act. We cannot
blame the audience for expecting higher from this young but matured actor. The
film is not included in the list of super hits or hits; but I am sure that this
film is a good entertainer and it is worth watching. You will enjoy it,
provided you reach the theatre without having over expectations. I am sure that
these recent hits will help him get decent box office collection for this film
as well.
