NAGPUR: India require 127 run to win
in the ICC World T20 opener at Nagpur. Shouldering the mounting expectations
of the people, Indian bowlers particularly Bumrah did very well; leaving no
chance for the Kiwi batsmen to free their arms to make shots.
Earlier winning the toss Kiwi Captain
Kane Williamson chose to bat first. Attack was the attitude of the Kiwi batsmen
and they proved it from the first ball itself.
When came to open the bowling, R
Ashwin was welcomed with a straight-bat six from Anderson. However in the
second ball, Ashwin retaliated getting Guptil trapped in front of the wicket.
(He was partially helped by the umpire as replays proved the ball going over
the stumps.)
Once Guptil was dismissed, the
next-in batsman C Munro too chose to attack and smashed Ashwin for another six
in the first over. With two sixes, Ashwin conceded 13 runs in the first over. But
once Ashish Nehra dismissed Munro, they were forced to the back seat. Munro was
caught by Pandya.
